Beads of sweat on the forehead, sweat stains under the armpits, salt marks on the top and a pungent smell in the nose - sweating is important for our body, but it brings with it some pretty unpleasant side effects!
Various anti-sweat remedies promise to prevent all of this. But only the right antiperspirant is proven to be effective.
Anti-sweating remedies have always been in demand, long before the first deodorant came onto the market in 1888. Home remedies are still popular today, as many consumers want to avoid artificial fragrances, alcohol and dyes in their hygiene products. That's why Soummé's antiperspirant does not contain any of these ingredients.
Home remedies for sweating
A lot of things have been tried out, some home remedies for sweating have been used to this day because they work better than others. The following is a small selection of natural remedies for sweating:
Baking soda, which is also a component of baking powder, has an antibacterial effect, like some deodorants. It is not the sweat itself that smells unpleasant, but rather the decomposition by the bacteria on the skin that causes the smell of sweat. The fewer bacteria, the less smell. Baking soda is mixed with water to form a thick paste and can optionally be flavored.
Walnut leaves also have an antibacterial effect. Ten percent of the leaves also consist of tannins, which cause the sweat glands to contract. If you don't have a walnut tree in your garden, you can also order walnut leaves from the pharmacy. A tea is made from the leaves and should be drunk about three cups a day so that it has an anti-perspiration effect.
Apple cider vinegar is more effective than baking soda because it acts almost like a professional antiperspirant. The vinegar causes the sweat glands to contract and less sweat to come out. However, apple cider vinegar has the disadvantage that it smells strong in its own way. This can be minimized by applying it to the areas of the body that sweat heavily in the evening. Then the vinegar has enough time to work and can be washed off the next morning.
Sage is not only a delicious culinary herb, but also has an antiperspirant effect, similar to apple cider vinegar. Dried sage leaves are boiled like tea, preferably in concentrated form. After cooling, the sage infusion can be applied to the desired parts of the body. Sage can also help against sweating from the inside to a limited extent. All you have to do is drink sage tea several times a day.
A healthy diet helps against sweating
In addition to these home remedies for sweating, there are some useful behaviors. Just as the way we eat influences our health, eating and drinking also influences the body's sweat production. A healthy diet supports all body functions. The circulation, the nervous system, the organs and all other important components fit together perfectly. Our circulatory system works calmly and constantly and does not have to constantly perform at its best. Accordingly, little thermoregulation is necessary, which is controlled by sweating.
However, there are of course some foods and beverages that promote sweating. Avoiding certain foods and drinks can also be a remedy for sweating under the armpits or on the face. The following are particularly considered to promote sweating:
Other foods, on the other hand, have the exact opposite effect and are therefore natural remedies for sweating - albeit with only a limited effect:
Proper clothing to prevent sweating
An often underestimated remedy for sweating under the armpits is the right clothing. The general rule is: dark clothing - especially black clothing - attracts the sun more strongly than light clothing. The body temperature rises and the sweat glands begin to produce more sweat to cool down the body. Especially in summer, it is an advantage not to wear clothing that is too tight so that air can circulate between the skin and clothing.
Cotton fabrics tend to absorb and hold sweat. Modern functional textiles are breathable and transport moisture from the inside to the outside. If you prefer a natural material, you can also use linen.
Practical and effective remedy for sweating: antiperspirant
These are all helpful tips, but they are not really practical. After all, in everyday life it has to be quick and, above all, effective. Home remedies can help minimize sweat production and reduce the smell of sweat. But none of these home remedies offer effective protection. Especially not in exceptional situations such as the final exam or the first date.
Only antiperspirants work reliably.
This is what various scientific studies have shown. An antiperspirant should not be confused with a deodorant. Because at best it has an antibacterial effect, just like apple cider vinegar. This means that you sweat just as much with a deodorant as without it. A good deodorant simply prevents bacteria from breaking down sweat and causing the smell of sweat to form. Many people simply drown out the unpleasant smell with more dominant fragrances. So they are more perfume than anti-sweat agent.
An antiperspirant closes the outer layer of the sweat gland so that no sweat can escape. That's why it works better than an anti-sweating remedy, which only causes the sweat glands to constrict.
Many people are looking for a remedy for sweating on the face , intimate area or buttocks. What sounds funny is actually a real burden for many people. Imagine you have an important meeting with a customer and your face tends to sweat a lot when you're stressed. Or you have an open-ended date.
A spray can only be used under the armpits and on the body. In addition to the practical roll-on, Soummé offers antiperspirant wipes that can be used on all other parts of the body. They are soaked in the same substance and thus prevent sweating on the bottom, intimate area, face, hands and feet.
Many remedies, but only one works quickly and sustainably
If you really want to fight sweat and are looking for a remedy for sweating that works immediately and doesn't let you down, then you should definitely use an antiperspirant. It doesn't try to save what can be saved, but actually ensures that you don't sweat in places where you don't want to sweat.
